Playing in Detroit has been better than I could have imagined. There are so many things happening in the city, that it is often difficult to choose which event to go to! Being close to the city, I always have a nearby event that I could attend if I wanted to.
There are so many great bars and restaurants around Detroit, and it hasn’t taken me very long to figure out my favorites. From local brew-pubs to dance bars, there is always something to do on the weekends. Midtown and Downtown both have a very active nightlife, and there are always a lot of young people going out and having a good time.
Challenge Detroit has also connected the fellows with some great cultural events. These fun events make it easy for the fellows to go out and discover what is going on in the city. Most recently, we were given a private tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts followed by a community concert.
I was really surprised at the diversity of art that the DIA had to offer. After spending the last two summers in Europe, I had seen a great deal of famous artworks from around the world. The DIA not only had works of art by some of the same famous artists I saw in Europe, but had some pieces that I had only read about in other museums. Detroit really offers young professionals a great place to play, that is both entertaining and unique!
