(This might be a little late, but as the interview trip kicks off for year 5 fellows I started getting nostalgic about last year)
So, to any year 5 fellows who are perusing the Challenge Detroit blog hastily in last minute preparations:
It’ll be okay. Even if you spill your interviewer’s coffee, singe your dress with an iron the night before, and leave an interview with (what you think) is your dream job crying.
The funny thing about a Challenge year is that it will take everything you know and love or think your know and love and turn it upside down.
Whether it is ending up in a job whose description didn’t even really exist when you interviewed, juggling a million different scheduling conflicts or finding yourself on challenges or teams you wouldn’t have expected, this year has put me in situations that I wouldn’t have signed on to myself, only to introduce me to other things I love and make space for experiences I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
So even though the next two days will be demanding and at times overwhelming, it’ll all somehow turn out exactly how it’s meant to.
