This year is moving by so fast! We are almost to February 2014! My January has been pretty eventful to say the least.
My events for this year are as follows:
- New Years Eve I attended a service put on by Triumph Church at the Detroit Opera House downtown. The service featured comedian David Mann and his wife gospel singer/actress Tamela Mann. The event was totally free and packed to capacity.
- January 14th I attended Mix At The Max. Peter Soave was joined by a Detroit Symphony Orchestra string quartet in a fiery tango-inspired performance. This event was amazing. Great drinks, great music and great people are always a good match.
- January 18th I attended a natural hair event hosted by Gwen Jimmere, founder of natural hair care line Natralicious. This workshop was all about how to keep your hair moisturized in the winter when dealing with harsh winds and dry air. It was very informative and appropriate considering how we have been experienced record-breaking temperatures in the motor city recently.
- On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day my celebration began at Dr. Martin Luther King Senior High School. I participated in a race simulation put on by high school students and a 2mile march and rally in his honor. The march included marching bands, floats and picket signs. The rally included many people from the Detroit community as well as students and alumni of the school.
- January 23rd I attended the COTS annual Soup City event at the GEM Theatre Downtown. This event was so much fun! The soups and entertainment were beyond all my expectations and the event was truly a success. It gave us fellows a lot more insight on our challenge partner and how they interact with the community.
- Last but now least my month could not be complete without a trip to the auto show. It was absolutely worth all the hype. The cars and location where great and I saw so many new and innovative features on the vehicles displayed.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading!
