As a fellow, I was offered a position for the year at Marketplace Homes, a real estate and property management company located in Livonia. We give people who want to move but can’t because they don’t want to sell their house for such a low market price, the opportunity to do so.  We do this through our guaranteed lease program in which we present our customers with a monthly payment to cover their old house if they agree to move into one of our newly constructed homes.  This monthly payment is guaranteed up to 6 years so we hope that within that time the market will go up enough for the homeowner to sell their house at a comfortable price.

I started off working in the Finance department where I was able to get a feel of how the department works and who performs which roles.  I was then placed on the Tech team to come up with solutions to streamline the operations of our Finance department through technology.  This meant working on anything from performing research on potential finance programs to getting the Finance department on up and running with Salesforce. Salesforce is a CRM system that our company runs on, and helping our finance department to start using Salesforce has been essential.

After completing the Salesforce project, I recently moved back on the Finance team.  I am very excited to contribute further to the Finance department and feel I will obtain more of a learning experience, as my college major was Finance.  The experience at Marketplace Homes so far has been great!  The culture and environment of the people here are truly amazing and I’m so happy to be a part of it!  Excited to see what is to come next!
