I am a recent transplant from the West Coast (of Michigan!) and if you’ve never been, I highly suggest you make a pilgrimage to visit Lake Michigan. It’s Awesome! Before attending Hope College in Holland, MI, I grew up in Pinckney which is located approximately 55 minutes northwest of Detroit. So far, I think Jeannette Rice of the Detroit Experience Factory has said it best,

“Detroit is big enough to matter in the world and small enough for you to matter in it.”

 

I couldn’t agree more. Detroit is a big city, but it feels like a small town – home.
