I’m a 5th generation Metro Detroiter. My great-great grandfather Christoph Engel immigrated to Detroit from Germany in the late 1800s. The home that he built in Southwest Detroit stands today and for me remains a reminder of my family’s roots here in the city. I am proud to have roots in Southwest Detroit and I hope to make an impact on the Southwest community during my fellowship year.
