Teddy Bears never die! Last month the Challenge Detroit Teddy Bears lost in the playoffs of the YMCA Basketball League. It was heart breaking, to lose in the fashion that we did. To lose in overtime has to be the worst way to get eliminated. I tell you I still don’t know who was guarding that guy that hit those two three pointers in the extra period. And I could spend hours talking about adjustments that we could have made, but I won’t.
I have come to believe that the lost chance at winning the championship in basketball will make the Teddy Bears stronger. You see the Teddy Bears are still alive, for the month of May will be the start of volleyball season. And guess who has a team that is trying to get the taste of defeat out of their mouths. That’s right the Teddy Bears! Sure, it doesn’t sound as ferocious as it did in my head, but our game will make up for that.
We are coming for the championship, and where we lack in skill, height, knowledge of the game, durability, schedule integrity, cohesiveness, and etc. we make up for with our will to win. I for one will not be walking away with second place, for this time the Teddy Bears will be champions.
We will win the “Come Play Detroit” volleyball league. I guarantee it!
