I am a playlist for every occasion and a perfect song for every moment type of gal. If you are anything like me then this list is for you. A song for each of my favorite parts of the city.

Night Drive | Midnight City – M83
The only way to drive into the city especially at night is to this song. It makes you feel like Detroit is a magical land where anything can happen. Seriously it gets me jazzed up.

Belle Isle | Ends of the Earth – Lord Huron
The best to listen to when exploring Belle Isle. A must at sunset and a must while biking through the woods.

West Village | Blue Moon  – Beck
Listen to this song while walking around West Village.  You will feel yourself melting into the world, the history and the beauty around you and nothing will matter. I promise.

Pre Party, During the Party, Post Party….Party | Lit – DENM
This was one of those overplayed songs in your friend group that has to be played before you go out. Play at any pre-party, in any apartment in Detroit and most specifically before you go to Temple Bar.

Old Miami | I Wanna Dance with Somebody – Whitney Houston
Request this song when you are at Old Miami. Trust me.

River Walk | Conrad – Ben Howard
Listen when you are sitting overlooking the Riverwalk and people watch. A song that makes you feel aware of how beautiful people, how grand this earth is and how peaceful the city can be.

Driving | Angela – The Lumineers
As much as I hate traffic I ironically love driving by myself for moments like this. This is another drive into the city song. No time preference whether day or night for when you listen but your windows must be down. When they repeat “home at last” you will feel it. Detroit will feel like home.

Blues Run the Game – Jackson C. Frank
Grab some friends, grab some wine, put on a fake fireplace video on that tv, lay on the ground and talk about your life. Ask tough questions and answer honestly and authentically. Some of my best nights in Detroit have been laying on someones floor doing this exact thing and those are the memories I will hold in this city over anything. This song will set the tone.
