After adjusting to being back in Detroit, I’m extremely happy that I decided to move back.

The people, the food, the experiences… everything about being back home has been so much PEACE. I’ve enjoyed trying new restaurants in the city like Vince’s in Southwest and “They Say” in the E. Jefferson corridor. Getting out and speaking to different community members has been interesting as well. There are so many types of people in Detroit.

I’ve also been helping some kids who want to attend my alma mater (THE Howard University) with their college applications! DETROIT represent!

The highlight of my month, by far, has been finding a gym home! Performance 80 Fitness is my new workout space! It’s super intense and the people I workout with, much like the people at my host company, push me to get better daily. I enjoy being pushed professionally and physically on a daily basis. My first months in Detroit, though emotionally challenging, have been mentally stimulating and have allowed me to get a better idea of the identity I want to form as a person and a professional in the city.
