We are halfway through our challenge year and I’m still just as excited about the program as I was when we first started! So far in our program year we have worked with the non profits organizations Generation Of Promise (GOP) which connects select 11th grade students from different backgrounds allowing them a space to learn about each other and different areas of metro Detroit and N Power which brings tech jobs and opportunities to undeserved communities. The next non profit organization that we are working with is Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation. I am very excited to work with this group because being from Detroit, I grew up and spent most of my childhood years in the Rosedale Park neighborhood. I grew up on Rosemont, I went to Cooke Elementary School which is in the North Rosedale neighborhood and I stayed in this area until I was about 12 years old. I look forward to learning more about how this nonprofit organization serves this community and where I can fit in to help. This is another great example of why I appreciate this fellowship because I am learning more about the city of Detroit and I get the opportunity to help out organizations that serve communities and individuals just like me!
