There’s always that one moment when you chuckle to yourself and think wow I absolutely need a reality show. Though my life isn’t as fabulous as I’d like to believe it is, I thought it would be pretty cool to blog about my experiences while living in Detroit. There’s something appealing about Detroit and somehow my curiosity has lead me to a yearlong commitment. Yes I am apart of an amazing fellowship, Challenge Detroit, a collaborative leadership and professional development program that gives 32 of tomorrow’s leaders an opportunity to live, work, play, and give in and around the greater Detroit area for one year.
My name is Melissa Campbell, and I am one of the 32 Challenge Detroit Fellows. During this year I will have the opportunity to engage with city leaders, partake in numerous activities supporting city neighborhoods, work in a team alongside 32 amazing and dynamic fellows as we have hands-on professional and personal development.
I had no idea what I was really getting myself into……well so far I’m enjoying every moment in Detroit. So far I’ve:
- Learned to navigate the People Mover
- Enjoy grabbing a quick cup of Joe from the Roasting Plant Downtown
- Took an Imaginary trip to Greece in Greektown
- Participated in the Detroit Design Festival
- Helped create a Complimentary Bike Valet Service
- And so much more……..
Detroit is an amazing city and continues to inspire me! Each day I learn about the city’s strengths and endless opportunities. This year will be an amazing journey. This blog will allow me to share with you my insights, highlights of downtown living, and more importantly my experiences here in the D!
Thanks for checking out Melly C in the D! Hope you enjoy my blog.
