February has brought forth a full circle moment for myself. It was around this time last year that I was in search for an opportunity; an opportunity to be involved in passion filled work, an opportunity to gain skills and grow all while impacting the city I rally around. It’s amazing how things will be introduced to you but won’t truly reveal their self until later. I knew what Challenge Detroit was through a former co-worker but I was didn’t quite understand what it was. All I knew it that Marlo was gone on Fridays and i’d see her on Instagram doing awesome things in the city. That was back in 2013. A year later, I did further investigation and the fellowship had everything I wanted: chances to collaborate with peers and non-profits, an opportunity to expand my personal and professional network, and a chance to help the city.

Here it is a year later and i’m 6 months into Year 3 of Challenge Detroit and we are at the point of recruiting for Year 4. A total full circle.
