Field Trip: An Inside Look at Team Detroit

Well let me let you in on a little secret. There is no “I” in team but there is a TEAM DETROIT! Team Detroit is just like any other Ad agency only better. Team Detroit is composed of 5 international legendary agencies that individually revolutionized the industry. I am very proud to say I have the privilege of being a team Detroiter. We provide a full service ad agency with departments ranging from visual design, creative and analytics to strategic planning, integrated production and brand development.

Team Detroit is proud to be the exclusive communications agency to participate in the first-ever OpenCo business festival that took place in Detroit on September 12. This event was located at The Detroit Mercantile Co. in Eastern Market. Our theme: Opening Detroit brands to a new way of storytelling.

Business festivals can be dry, boring and non-interactive. OpenCo takes a different path. Designed to be a mash up of a business conference, an artists’ open studio and a music festival, OpenCo aims to attract professionals to Detroit companies for a glimpse of what makes Detroit one intriguing place to do business. It celebrates – and represents — companies that express the concept of openness: open collaboration, open communication, open community, open company and open doors.

Team Detroit has collaborated with many Detroit brands to help tell their story, such as the College for Creative Studies, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, WDET, Detroit Dirt, The Greening of Detroit, Ford Motor Company and many more. These stories have also helped spread the story of Detroit — how a troubled city is rebuilding itself into a hub of innovation.

This event proceeded as follows: A panel of experts on stage there were also Team Detroit Team Members in the audience. Team Detroit came prepared to speak on 4 different topics. The audience was able to choose which presentation they most wanted to hear and also ask questions through social media. The audience ranged from experienced professionals to current college students. Food was provided as well as a great networking opportunity and I was super excited to have the privilege to attend with my new company!

I look forward to more events like this one in the future. This event was entertaining and at the same time informative. What type of events would you like to see brought to Detroit in the future? Would you ever attend an OpenCo event or an event with a similar design to OpenCo?
