In this week’s Fellow Spotlight, we are checking in with Tiara Adams. She fills us in on what she enjoys most about living in the city, and her host company, Team Detroit!

Tiara, growing up in our state’s capital – Lansing, what have you enjoyed most about making the move to Detroit?

Living in Detroit is amazing! There is tiara team detroitalways something to do here. Growing up in Lansing at times I found myself looking for the next big activity. In Detroit, I am so busy it’s hard to keep my schedule straight. There are so many organizations promoting cool events.  From walking along the riverfront, to Come Play Detroit, to RunThisTown, there is never a dull moment. I like having options; I can attend events that I am passionate about as well as ones focusing on things that I may have never heard of. It’s a great mix and it has been a great experience so far.

Tell us more about some of those things you like to do in Detroit?

tiara play detroitI love being involved with different activities where no two days are alike. I attend RunThisTown (RTT) regularly. RTT Detroit is a grassroots movement meant to facilitate networking through fitness.  RTT meets twice a week and combines working out and networking and it’s free for everyone.  I have attended a Mix @ the Max performance that featured Peter Soave with a few other fellows. It was held at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and was a great experience. Another event I was recently involved in, is the Motor City Step Show. This is an annual step show held in the city of Detroit showcasing Historically Black Greek Letter Fraternities and Sororities. I also love to eat in Detroit! There are too many restaurants for me to name but my favorite right now would have to be Bucharest Grill! If you ever happen to stop in, try the Chicken Shawarma it’s delicious!

Tell us about your host-company and what you do?

My host company is Team Detroit. Team Detroit LogoTeam Detroit is a full service ad agency that combines five international, legendary agencies that individually revitalized the advertising agency and puts them all under one roof. Team Detroit is beyond amazing! I don’t mean to brag, but I have the best company ever. I work in the Human Resources Department as a HR coordinator. I contribute to all areas of HR including: operations, recruiting, training, and development. My job title is very self-explanatory as I coordinate our most important resource (the people) and make sure that everyone stays happy. My responsibilities include recruiting for entry-level positions, handling paperwork and sending out training and development communications.

When it comes to Fridays, what is your favorite aspect of the team challenges?

My favorite part of the team challenges tiara lead detroitwould have to be the communities we impact. Seeing the reactions of people in and around the organizations we partner with is priceless. It feels great to know that you made a difference and the result of your time, ideas and collaboration will result in something great! I also enjoy spending time with my fellow fellows. We work hard on Fridays and being able to come together to form ideas that will bring about positive change in Detroit is great!

What are you excited for in Detroit?

I am looking forward to seeing tiara give detroitDetroit grow and change for the better. Detroit is such a legendary city and it has so much to offer.
