Our Fellow at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit is Ayesha Miah, a Michigan State University alumna with bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics. At Goodwill, Ayesha is the Government Relations Fellow, in the Marketing and External Affairs Office. Her supervisor Jessica McCall shared this about Ayesha:

“We are thrilled to have Ayesha and her many talents as a part of Goodwill Detroit’s team. Her adaptability and drive has made it possible for her to lead projects and serve as an asset in Goodwill’s advocacy work. When Ayesha completes her tenure as a Challenge Detroit fellow, she will have assisted with the restoration of critical funding, planned large-scale community engagement events and, maybe equally as important, kept me, her supervisor, from drowning due to capacity challenges. It has been a gift having someone as capable as Ayesha on the team.”

Ayesha joined Challenge Detroit because:

“As a native Detroiter I did not want to sit passively and observe the changes taking place in my city. I wanted to actively take part in the efforts of those tackling the issues in the city and make sure that the unique voices of Detroiters were not drowned out in the process. Challenge Detroit allows me to continue working with leaders at the forefront of change while providing me the experience and skill building that will help me become a leader as well, and put the people of Detroit first.”

For over 95 years, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has been a leader in making a difference in people’s lives. We help them find work, hope and pride in their life and in their career. Goodwill delivers services based on the needs of those we serve. We work with businesses, non-profits and government agencies in Metro Detroit to make this happen. Our work would not be possible without our community partnerships. Each day, we impact lives throughout the Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw Counties.
