It took three years, two months and one day for the first billion Tweets to be sent on twitter. The same number is now sent every 48 hours. 

The digital landscape has impacted the way individuals interact and communicate. Our connectivity is advancing everyday, and the way in which we speak with each other in this era of digital space is a new dimension that is still taking shape. This technology has democratized consumer’s accessibility to businesses small and large. At scale, this innovation is incredibly powerful!

With interests in technology and Detroit, I found it fitting to write my first blog post on the very way in which I discovered Challenge Detroit. I first learned about Challenge Detroit through twitter. I saw the Challenge Detroit application link retweeted by @OpportunityDET and others . I saw the tweet, started following @ChallengeDet, and applied!

As the Marketing Coordinator for Challenge Detroit, I am responsible for all of our social media channels, including twitter. It is a special opportunity to manage the account that lead me to applying in the first place. I never imagined that I would be in this circumstance, and have built a great appreciation for the power of this technology.

There are over 500 million tweets sent daily. It’s exciting to be able to directly contribute to this virtual revolution via Challenge Detroit!
