I am working with the Architectural Salvage Warehouse of Detroit(ASWD) along with Mike Paciero. For our impact project we decided to focus on marketing and their website, helping them get their name out there. ASWD does deconstruction and works with many reclaimed materials from lumber to toilets taken from deconstructed houses.
Mike Paciero is really experienced with deconstruction as he has deconstructed a house on the east side of Detroit. After visiting ASWD’s retail space, it is full of reclaimed wood and appliances that are looking for new homes instead of on their way to a scrapyard. This is important for the environment and many of these reclaimed materials can be repurposed.
We decided to focus on marketing and the website because one of their competitors, Reclaim Detroit, has an easy to use website and is widely known. I actually have never heard of ASWD before Mike Paciero brought this idea up for our impact project. They perform a number of services, they craft beautiful tables, deconstruct houses, general contracting among other projects. They also hire a number of returning citizens to be sub-contractors to help them with their many jobs.
We hope to help them create flyers for each of these services that they can hand out to customers and help grow their business. We saw a small area of a successful non-profit business, that could use a little bit of work and hopefully make a large impact for their future growth.
