Year Two Fellow Roy Yewah recently shared with us what he has been up to since finishing the program and how Challenge Detroit shaped his career after graduation. See what Roy had to say, below.

Tell us, what have you been doing since your year as a Challenge Detroit Fellow?

Since completing the program I had a short stint at Team Detroit (Ford Motor Company’s Advertising Agency) where I was working as a Financial Analyst for the Global team. After experiencing the advertising world and all it has to offer, I decided to join the client side in the summer of 2015, where I began working at Ford Motor Company.

At Ford I currently work in finance for the material planning and logistics controller’s office, where I am in charge of doing the inventory forecasting and budgeting for all engine, transmission, and stamping plants in North America and South America. I also am in charge of the inventory forecasting for exports and imports globally.

As an senior studying Economics student at Kalamazoo college, what compelled you to apply and later participate in Challenge Detroit?

I applied to become a Challenge Detroit Fellow because I saw the impact I could have on the community while still getting the “corporate” work experience I felt necessary in order to achieve the type of success I’m aspiring to. It was the best of both worlds in a city that is on the horizon for young professionals.

Reflecting on your experience as a fellow, what do you feel was most valuable to you?

The most important part of the fellowship experience was communication all around. Communicating with the community members we worked with, communication with the different panels of entrepreneurs and executives we learned from, and communication amongst peers.
