I live for those spontaneous days. You know, those days that are packed with so much unplanned fun that you and your friends find yourselves saying, “Remember that time when…?” for months and years to come. I’m happy to say I’ve had several of these ridiculously fun, PLAY days in my 28 years of life, but I would be remiss if I didn’t share the one I had with my fellow Challenge Detroit Fellows!

Nothing like a randomly fun night in the D

Allow me to take you back to a cold, rainy Friday in October. Winter was tapping on Detroit’s shoulder, but that didn’t stop the Fellows from wanting to get out and play. After a full day of working on increasing food access with October’s Challenge partner, United Way, we were ready to unwind from the workweek. A randomly assembled group of us (read: texting everyone and rolling with whomever wanted to go) decided to check out LIV Resto | Lounge (L!V), a lively lounge in the heart of downtown. We all squeezed into my car (I won’t even tell you how many people were in there), drove over and scurried into the lounge. Upon entry, L!V is a pretty small, unassuming place, but it was so full of energy. The DJ was great, the people were fun, and, let me tell you, that was one of the best nights I’ve ever had. We danced the night away and had so much fun. About once a month, one of us who was there that night will say, “Remember that night we went to that lounge? So much fun!”
