Looking back on this year in Challenge Detroit, it’s hard to believe the program has come to a close! My year in Challenge was nothing like what I expected, but acted as the perfect introduction to the Motor City.

For the past 4 years, I have taken risks and joined programs that connected me to a city. The Jesuit Volunteer Corps connected me for Kansas City, the Trinity Fellows Program connected me to Milwaukee, etc. Still, Challenge Detroit facilitated the deepest connection of all to the social and economic fabric of Detroit.

I never planned to fall in love with Detroit. But I did. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Challenge Detroit.
