It’s hard to believe that around this time last year I was packing up my apartment in Ann Arbor and preparing to begin Challenge Detroit and move to the city. I had a basic idea of what the coming year would entail, but still didn’t really know what to expect. I am happy to say this past year was truly a memorable one. I’ve met so many incredible people, learned some valuable lessons both professionally and personally, worked and had fun with my fellow fellows, collaborated with some awesome organizations, learned a lot about myself and fell in love with Detroit. I’m thankful Challenge Detroit presented the multiple opportunities to work with great nonprofits and attend awesome events throughout the city. It was exciting to work with 30 other talented individuals on our monthly challenges and support their projects and successes throughout the year. Being around such creative energy in Detroit made me revisit some of my old passions in life such as music and theatre. I’m very happy to have that creative outlet back in my life. I wish the next group of Challenge Detroit fellows the best of luck and recommend seizing any and every opportunity presented to them. And to my fellow fellows I wish all the best on your future projects and look forward to seeing your impact on the city. I’m excited to continue living and working in Detroit and continuing my adventure.
