I’ve had a lot of great experiences in Detroit during my time here, and I’m sure I’ll continue to keep this trend going, but I wanted to quickly highlight my time spent at the corner pub – The Woodbridge Pub.

The Woodbridge Pub can be best described as an analogy, it’s the ‘hang out’ spot that every 90’s sitcom seemed to have for its lead roles to advance a plot or just provide some comedic relief. Whether some friends and I were grabbing lunch, dinner, brunch, brinner or whatever make-believe meal time happens to be around the corner, the pub could always provide an area of momentary retreat.

Over the year, I’ve met new friends and strengthened old bonds where the pub resides, conveniently at the end of the block from my house. Food and drink is often much more than just a meal, it allows a common ground for people to bond over experiences, past and present. Much of my wonderful memories that I’ve had with my roommates will be remembered in a crowded, merry room and subsequently a light jaunt back home.
