Again late—man, I need to get back into my groove.  Anyway, I wrote this last Wednesday, and then forgot about it.  Sorry, but try to enjoy.  This week’s blast will also be a little late.  So much going on at work! Great stuff!

Well, even though I am looking out a window into a pit of despair (rain/snow on April 24th!) I know this weekend will change my dreary and cold attitude quickly.  SO many outdoor events going on, its overwhelming.  Run This Town Detroit is a great program that I try to attend every Saturday morning (they also run on Tuesdays).  They are a free workout boot camp, but they do more than just help you workout.  They provide an extremely supportive environment  where they focus on “collaboration over competition.”  Everyone is so welcoming and so great, it is a fantastic experience.

In addition, the organization I am helping to start, is having a fundraising event statuary night at McShane’s Pub in Corktown.  Our name is Southwest Rides: Bikes & Boards, but we are much more than a bike and skateboard shop.  We are a volunteer-run community shop as well as a youth entrepreneurship training center, providing training and education to our youth and community members. They will learn professional skill development, including bicycle mechanics, repair customer service, business management, fundraising, community outreach, marketing strategies, business expansion, product sales, and more. Through this training, our youth walk away with marketable skills, removing many barriers to employment.

We have been running an Indiegogo fundraising campaign throughout April, and we are finishing our campaign off with the event at McShane’s.  We are also accepting non-monetary donations, such as working/nonworking bikes, bikes parts, bike accessories, and anything else related to bikes.
