This past weekend I was fortunate enough to travel home to visit my amazing family and friends. As I may have mentioned in the past, I am originally from Traverse City, Michigan, located 4 hours north of Detroit, in between two beautiful fresh water bays. As I toured wineries, ate good food and reminisced about the days growing up on the heart stealing peninsula, I started to realize how many of my Challenge Detroit friends haven’t fully experienced all that Michigan has to offer. Whether a small trip to Lake Michigan or a sandy hike through the dunes, Michigan is a place that is never short of natural beauty. As a lighthouse lover, it is, of course, my paradise – but as a traveler, Michigan definitely belongs on “Must See” lists. I am not saying this to make you jealous of my home (although you might want to be), I just want to make sure that those who are moving to Detroit because of all it offers take a second to look at the bigger picture. Detroit sits in a pretty amazing place. A place where you can travel around the entire state on a lake (like seriously). So enough of me romanticizing, I will just leave some pictures to entice you to visit Pure Michigan.

(P.S. I am not being paid to advertise for Pure Michigan, although I did work for them last year… so you tell me)
