Aw man. As my friends and I like to say, “It’s been real.” I learned so much here in Detroit. I learned about listening to people and looking at things from many perspectives. I learned that Detroiters have an incredible spirit and pride about being from their city. I gained an even deeper appreciation for the fact that I was born here, and learned that I truly belong. I wish I could stay even longer – I hate to be one of those people who leave. I pray my next steps in life put me in an even better position to help spur change here in Detroit.

I really missed my friends back home. This was my first time being so far from home for so long, so I look forward to seeing familiar faces. I’m also excited for new adventures and opportunities. I know it won’t be long before I pine for Detroit again. I’ve met so many amazing people, both in my fellowship and the community. It’s truly been an amazing year.
