I have grown increasingly more passionate about the topic of Holistic Health, and especially interested in how we can manifest projects, programs, and ideas that are related to that throughout Detroit. Especially in the neighborhoods where the need for these types of things for those communities are significantly greater and lacking fresh food, water, and resources needed to maintain a healthy holistic lifestyle. In Detroit there has always been and continues to be an overwhelming sense of entrepreneurship, idea generation, and action being taken to address problems that need to be solved in the city. Not often enough do we talk about the self care that is essential to both the leaders of the city who are fighting every day to make Detroit the best community it can be as well as the general population here.

I’ve always been interested in the benefits of being committed to the practice of mediation in addition to finding ways to stay active, and eat well that are both low cost and efficient. Low cost is a key to me not only for myself as a striving minimalist, but also for those who living in poverty and need low cost solutions to these problems as we work to fix the source of the problem. One day we will have Holistic Health centers in every neighborhood in the city of Detroit where people can learn to center themselves in the midst of what can be a chaotic and burdensome life. I’ll leave you with a few links to check out related to this issue! One is a link to some information about an idea called Heal Detroit started by Ciarra Ross, a young Detroiter, who is also passionate about Holistic Health and bringing to the people of Detroit. The other is a link to a workshop series that I’ve recently been attending called My Self Care. It’s been hosted at Bamboo Detroit and is ongoing. So you should consider joining, because Self Care should be an uncompromising priority in your life.
