Through Challenge Detroit, I have been able to make connections and see Detroit through a unique lens that I wouldn’t have been able to myself. The combination of working with non-profits, the individuals in the cohort, and access to countless events have sped up my integration into the city. Yeah there is work to be done in the city and there will always be room for improvement. However, the people in Detroit are hardworking individuals and taking action to make a positive impact in their communities throughout the city.

I was placed into a great opportunity as a Junior Sales and Marketing Associate with MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy. For context we have nine locations in and around metro Detroit. Since I’m in a sales role I am constantly traveling throughout our markets to spread the word and set up appointments. This has offered me a unique opportunity to not only explore Detroit but the region as a whole. It has been interesting to experience the different areas of our region and how they differ.

Detroits history along with many American cities often have poised a divide between urban and suburban communities. My experience navigating both settings has grown my interest in projects that aim to connect both worlds. For example the newly proposed Ann Arbor – Detroit bus route.

FYI – Move here it’s cool!
