So it’s New Years eve and I’m writing this blog last minute, I think we just talked about not doing this, but anyways…
2015 is over. Good Riddance! I had a really tough year. With lowlights such as getting broken up with, getting sued in federal court, and getting my jaw broken, I am not sad to see the year of the sheep leave us. It wasn’t all bad though so I’m going to reminisce about the good from 2015 and what I am looking forward to in 2016.
I would definitely say the best part of 2015 was getting selected for Challenge Detroit. Since getting to Detroit in August I have met amazing people, learned a ton about the city, and gotten to work with some really smart and inspiring people in the other fellows. Wherever you work the people you work with will be what really makes or breaks it. The fellows definitely make it. I came in to a brand new city not knowing anyone and I was greeted with a unique group of 30 guys and gals ready to take on our year of challenges. After four months of working together it seems like we’ve always been together. The diverse opinions and supportive environment makes Friday the best day of the week no matter how exhausted we are. Other highlights include seeing my Air Force buddy Dave before he went back to Japan, 3 of my friends getting married, 2 more friends having kids, and finding lemon ice Gatorade in 7-11 once in awhile.
I am looking forward to 2016 quite a bit. I don’t do the whole new year new me thing, but I do have some goals:
1. Try doing Stand-up. This has always been a dream of mine, and there should be more opportunity in Detroit that there is in the U.P. I need to find somewhere to do it, but so far I have two jokes. It’s a good start.
2. Quit chewing. I hate chewing but I do it a lot. It’s really difficult to stop but I want 2016 to be the year I do it.
3. Write more. I really like to write but I don’t ever do it (like waiting until new years eve to finish this blog) It’s a great way to get your thoughts out and help straighten them out.
4. Build up my savings. I’m really bad at saving money because I don’t really care about it until I’m dead broke. I want to be able to have enough on hand to deal with any emergencies.
5. Absorb as much as possible. I will never have the opportunity I have this year again. I get hands experiences with people, businesses, and initiatives I might never have encountered otherwise. Everything we do is fast paced like drinking out of a fire hose. I want to absorb as much as I can because I know this year will fly by and that’s what I am going to have left when it’s done
6. Procrastinate less. I mean I’m doing this on New Years Eve.

So that’s it, Happy 2016 everybody!
