Working with the team at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix (CDBIGP) was a pleasure this past year.  The highlight of course in working with such a team would have to  be race weekend.

In 2015 the organizers and patrons were un-welcomingly greeted with rain all throughout the weekend.  While I was not on the team for that race I saw how the planning for 2016 took account for the bad luck of 2015 at every turn.  As June 3-5 approached I religiously checked the forecast, hoping and praying that the event would have it’s time to shine rain free, and that the fans in attendance would enjoy the festivities to it’s full extent.

I was thrilled when the weekend rolled in and everything went according to plan.  The weather held out, the new amenities were a hit, and the race was a successful one with no serious accidents and a Team Penske victory (Will Power).  In a city with a rich automotive heritage like Detroit, the Grand Prix to me is a must that serves as a reminder that we are the city that put the world on wheels.

Like all things, the race and weekend festivities will evolve.  I can’t wait to attend 2017’s race weekend.
