My year in Detroit has been hard at times. I moved to Detroit with no friends or family in Michigan, if it weren’t for my wonderful girlfriend, I may have gone completely crazy. It is no wonder at times that I miss my hometown of Brooklyn. Sometimes I questioned why I moved here, but spending time in Detroit and experiencing all it has to offer has reaffirmed my decision to take that risk. This is a wonderful city, and when I visit Brooklyn I realize a big part of what I miss is the food. Well luckily this year I can take that problem off my back as two of my favorite spots are moving to Detroit: Calexico and Shake Shack. Enjoy ’em, Detroit!
