There are a few classic Detroit eateries that make every blog around for staple foods to eat in the D. In an attempt to try them all, I have decided to do some research.
Part 1: I’ve compile a list of the most reoccurring favorites based on other bloggers that I happen to agree with (and have tried myself). In order, from most extremely salivating to finger-licking good!
8 of the best highly recommend Restaurants in Detroit:
Slows Bar-B-Q
Famous for its BBQ, no doubt this is one of my favorites! It is served best when it’s accompanied with a side of their mac-n-cheese! I’ll eat in Corktown or get it to go @ Slows to Go in Midtown, anyway you cut it, it’s awesome!
Mercury Burger Bar
Excellent Sandwiches, laidback and totally delicious! It wouldn’t be right to just get a sandwich, classic milkshakes and thin cut fries are a must!
Green Dot Stables
Famous for its individually sold sliders this place is unique and easy on the budget. To make for the total experience you gotta throw in the mystery meat slider!
Seva
Best for its ½ price apps and drinks during happy hour, Seva is a great and unique way to share a dinner with friends. They are vegetarian options like General Tso’s Cauliflower which is definitely a fan favorite.
Mudgie’s Deli
A great soup and sandwich shop, tucked away and completely adorable. Also has good GF and vegetarian options.
Motor City Brewing Works Inc
Known for its beer, however I happen to prefer its pizza!
Shangri-La
Delicious, authentic Chinese/Thai food stocked with a great dim sum and sushi menus. Shangri-La has a upstairs eating area which makes for a great view of the restaurant!
Lafayette Coney Island and American Coney Island
There is a deep history between these two classic Coney Islands, so I’m marking these together. It’s crazy talk to try one and not go next door to try the other. You have to try it for yourself to decide which one is better.
In an attempt to try all the best Detroit has to offer. My goal for 2015 will be to compile a new list of all the “must haves” I haven’t tried. So with that, any suggestions??
