Has it been a year already? It seems like just yesterday I learned that I would be selected to participate in this amazing program. I was so excited to be blessed with the opportunity to experience the city of Detroit in a fun, exciting and unique way. Time sure does fly, when your having fun. This year has challenged me in ways that I could not have imagined. I will leave the Metro Detroit Area in the upcoming weeks and journey to Georgetown University to gain a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management. I will walk away from this fellowship with a renewed sense of purpose as it relates to uniting people and bringing them together not only to improve their current circumstances but the circumstances of those around them. When I think of this year I not only think of the growth in myself as a person but the growth of my fellows.  The relationships we have made with the city of Detroit as well as each other are priceless. I have learned so much from them, I will miss spending Fridays giving, working, playing and learning with them more than anything. There is a quote by Erika Bearman that states: “You should always be learning. If your the smartest person in the room, find a new room” This year served as such a huge teacher for me, there was always something to learn and someone passionate about expressing their views and why they felt as they did. When I think of my year with Challenge Detroit I will always smile. Everything in life is what you make it. I definitely made sure my year was one to remember. No excuses, no exceptions, no regrets. I made sure to give it nothing less than my best.

Until next time,

Cheers

Tiara
