I am lucky enough that my company emphasizes flexibility and allows me to work remotely when I can. Here are a few of my favorite spots to work remotely in Detroit.

5. Jolly Pumpkin
This Midtown spot has wi-fi that reaches their patio and an order of truffle fries big enough to power you through at least a half day’s work. Canfield is great people (and dog) watching territory for when you need a mental break. They lose points for the tempting tap lineup during work hours, but when you’re clocked out for the day, treat yourself to a Double Diabolical IPA – you deserve it!

4. Dessert Oasis
Absolutely delicious cold brew, a dessert counter that lives up to the name, and tables a plenty at this Capitol Park gem solidify its number four spot.

3. The Q-Line
This is (sort of) a joke, but it’s good to know that the Q-Line and all of its stops have Rocket Fiber wi-fi. Especially if you have a particularly long wait or ride, pull out your laptop and squeeze in some remote work that you don’t have to buy a coffee or otherwise pay for (until after Labor Day, that is).

2. Will Leather Goods
As a coffee shop that is tucked away in an enormous leather goods store, the biggest attraction of this place is that there are rarely other remote workers sucking up the wi-fi. Your only company might be one friendly barista and the occasional pair of retired men playing checkers. Bonus points for the strangely complementary aromas of coffee and leather. Extra bonus points for Pine, the dog who is sometimes there. Feel free to take a stroll through the merchandise, but avoid buying the overpriced wallets and stick to the delicious coffee.

1. Kresge Court
No surprises here. With its Instagrammable interior and abundant natural light, Kresge Court is a mecca for remote workers, students, and various Midtown meetups. Located in the DIA, you’ll certainly find whatever inspiration you need within these walls. The stunning high ceilings come with the price of echoing voices, so bring headphones if you really need to focus.
