Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to see The Architectural Imagination Exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. This amazing exhibit features designs by twelve different teams of architects who foreshadow what specific areas in the city could look like in the next 20-50+ years. The areas include Southwest Detroit/Mexican Town, the Detroit Riverfront near the Fort St. post office, the Dequindre Cut/Eastern Market, and the Packard Plant. It will be on display until April 16, 2017.

For me, the most intriguing part of the exhibit was the riverfront recreational and entertainment complex. The renderings showed concert halls, multipurpose sports facilities, theater space, and meeting space (shown in the first image and the video below). The entire exhibit really made me appreciate the beauty that already exists in the city and the potential that lies ahead. You can check out a few snippets from the exhibit below and more of my thoughts on the city’s art in this video.
