My welcoming article to ACG.

Tell us about your host company and your role in the organization.

My host company is AAA’s The Auto Club Group. My role within the organization is to leverage social media platforms and the internal social media team to increase Talent Acquisition visibility for potential candidates.

Tell us about the challenge project you’re currently working on; what are you learning from the experience?

The current challenge project we are working on is in collaboration with the non-profit organization NPower. NPower helps launch digital careers for military veterans and young adults in underserved communities while helping these individuals create pathways to economic prosperity. This challenge project is teaching me about the rapid increase of opportunities and careers in the technology field.

How do you hope to impact the community as a Fellow?

As a Fellow I hope to impact the community by using my creativity and the design thinking process to help our partner non-profit organizations shine their light brighter and reach even more people in the communities that they serve.

Since becoming a Fellow, what is something new that you have learned?

Challenge Detroit tour day.

Since becoming a Fellow I have learned to problem solve through the design thinking process. This is something that I have since used outside of the fellowship and has helped me excel in thinking creatively.

How do you believe your fellowship will shape your career moving forward?

I think my fellowship will help shape my career by broadening my professional skills and network. With Challenge Detroit partnering me with AAA’s The Auto Club Group, I have been able to work closely with members from the Marketing Department, Human Resources and even the Diversity and Inclusion team. I have been able to build relationships with individuals from these different departments and also learn professional skills as I go.

If someone is reading this and considering applying to be a Fellow, why would you encourage them to apply?

Challenge Detroit is a gem in the city that it serves and I would encourage anyone to join the organization because the network, opportunities and knowledge you can gain from this opportunity is limitless!
