It was a night of scraped knees, shouts, laughs, falls, and, luckily, no broken bones.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-15158 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_5688-1-e1457455957390-300x263.png\" alt=\"IMG_5688 (1)\" width=\"250\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_5688-1-e1457455957390-300x263.png 300w, https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_5688-1-e1457455957390.png 723w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Some fellows were skating veterans, but for many it was there first time on eight wheels. Fellow Clare Lilek said of the event: \u201cIt was fun until it was dangerous. The groovy tunes drowned out the screams\u2026as they all fell one by one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soon however, everyone was riding with style and grace. Lap after lap, round after round they developed a comfortable handle on their role. Seeing everyone reflected in the bright gleam of the disco ball reminded the fellows of how lucky they are to live in such a historic city. Every revolution, they were skating back in time. With every turn, they saw the derbies, proms, dances, first kisses, make-ups, and break-ups that have happened in this aged rink.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15159 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FullSizeRender-10-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"FullSizeRender (10)\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FullSizeRender-10-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FullSizeRender-10-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FullSizeRender-10-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.challengedetroit.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/FullSizeRender-10.jpg 1334w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The fellows left the night happy and refreshed. When they weren\u2019t chatting with each other in the rink, they were chatting with each other on the benches just outside. Skating\u2019s not for everyone after all, but friendship is.<\/p>\n<p>In short, you can say that Challenge\u2019s second social event was a resounding success.
