I was born in May, so I&#8217;m biased to favor it, but there was so much celebration this month that sans b-day it would still be spectacular. The festivities started with this:<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"spotlight alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/hphotos-xft1\/v\/t1.0-9\/11014686_10153274720356798_3577272974255628344_n.jpg?oh=a733ee1eeb5d18b7eb4772454bb3453c&amp;oe=55F3314F\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"446\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hands down my favorite music related event of the the year is Metro Times&#8217; annual <a href=\"http:\/\/mtblowout.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blowout.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A mulit-day, multi-city celebration of Detroit music, mostly rock n roll. I had the chance to catch the Black Lips this year, and while they&#8217;re not from Detroit, I won&#8217;t hold that against them because they delivered an energetic show. Thank you Black Lips!<\/p>\n<p>Next up, <em>another<\/em> Metro Times party, their annual best of party feature the best food and drink our fair metropolis has to offer. <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/photos.metrotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/MetroTimesBestOf2015_DRockymore.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"661\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.metrotimes.com\/detroit\/welcome-to-best-of-detroit-2015\/BestOf?oid=2337220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Check out this year&#8217;s winners here<\/a>. I was glad to see Buddy&#8217;s Pizza there, I missed them in my time away from Michigan. It was held at Motor City Casino, where my Dad works, hi Dad!<\/p>\n<p>Further north, some amazing people put on an amazing event, the Porous Boarders Festival in Hamtramck , a two-day community arts festival explore boarders old and new. An especially pertinent topic for Hamtramck as the city is one of the most diverse in country.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.porousbordersfestival.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/StreetPainting-1024x705.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"705\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s hoping the rest of summer can keep up!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May marks my favorite month of the year and this year&#8217;s was one of the best.
