Ah, hello there, I’m glad that I’ve got your attention. Now wait, wait, hold on a second. Before you start calling me names and typing out insults in all caps, especially the “you should tolerate everybody, except anybody who doesn’t think the same way as us” folk, I would like to play a game. Now this game is very simple. I’m going to offer 3 different types of questions. All you have to do is think about what you read, then answer the questions to the best of your capabilities.

1. You are on a plane and somebody offers you $1 million dollars to jump out, would you take it?
2. Behind you at a restaurant you overhear a male who owns a small business that supports President-elect Donald Trump. Why?
3. You walk into a room where two groups of couples are having dinner. One couple is married while the other are not. Suddenly, the female of the unmarried couple begins choking and reaches for the male of the married couple. The female of the married couple seems unconcerned with the events while both males are now panicking. The female of the unmarried couples chokes to death with both males surrounding her while the married female remains at the table staring straight ahead. You notice the female who just passed away was the only person who had a bowl of soup. What happened at dinner?

If you answered any of these questions you are probably wrong. “Bu-Bu-But” The truth is you failed at doing something our society has failed at doing tremendously for as long as I can remember. Don’t be offended, most of us are just as guilty including myself at times. So what’s the point? Where am I going with this? Can you call me any names yet? The point is unless you sought out further detail on any of these questions you likely made an assumption. A concrete truth in your mind based on your biased beliefs whether those pre-perceived beliefs are right or wrong. Let me explain.

1. If you said no, it’s because you assumed the plane was in the air. I never specified either way, only that you are on a plane.
2. Most of you may have assumed because this male was probably white, racist, protecting his small business, etc. Again, you made another assumption. This male is actually Islamic, his name is Siyaad. He fled Iraq once ISIS beheaded most of his family after finding out Siyaad had been translating for the U.S. Army. He supports Donald Trump because to him (right or wrong) at least Trump says he will do something about ISIS, while president Obama won’t even acknowledge what they are which is Radical Islamic Terrorist. This is a true story.
3. How many of us jumped to the conclusion that poison must have been the cause? Do I have to say it again? The truth is the female who passed away after choking was allergic to silver. The reason she reached for the male of the married couple was because he was a doctor. The reason the female of the married couple did not respond was because she is blind and deaf, she did not know.

Now I know these are extreme situations. I also know some of you will blame me for not providing you with proper details but do not be distracted by minor things. The moral of this post is simple: STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS! Stop assuming that all white folk who voted for Trump are racist. Stop assuming that all Black Lives Matter protesters hate cops. Learn to gather information that doesn’t come only from Fox 2 News or CNN. The most ironic thing to me is this, we have access to more knowledge and information then any generation ever! Yet, we fail to do research. We see one tweet, one “stay woke” post, one article on HuffingtonPost and we immediately jump to conclusions. Pull the trigger ask questions later.

I’m not justifying anyone’s ignorance or actions. I say that because I’m sure there are plenty of scenarios you can all pull out to make this post seem ill-intent. If you do however, you’re missing the point. I’m not writing this to argue about racism, or sexism, or about any other political matter because anyone who knows me well, knows where I stand on specific issues. I simply ask that we stop assuming and gather all the information first.
