It’s hard to believe in just a week that Race Weekend will be here. It’s what our entire team has been working towards the whole year. 3 days. Filled with over 90,000 fans, more than 70 corporate sponsors, 4 different racing series, speeds over 165 mph, musical performances, endless food, and a myriad of games and activities.

I never imagined I’d be this geeked about cars going in circles around Belle Isle, but I can’t wait to see all the work this gritty, smart and fun-loving team has put in come together. Mind you, that moment won’t likely be relished in until the final couple laps of the second dual of the Verizon IndyCar race on Sunday evening, but I know those few deep breathes will be ones filled with reflection and joy.

This past month my team has been camped out on Belle Isle in a trailer right next to the Flynn Pavilion. It’s been a pleasant change of pace (a much quicker one) and an even better change of scenery (gray cubicle –> trees, water, wildlife, and Canada). I’m going to miss the late night working sessions that led to tears of laughter and the constant drum of music (a solid mix of country, acoustic, and the tunes of the decades) in the background.

Revving up for the Grand Prix for me falls back to the simplicity of a few good folks in a small space with immediate access to fresh air. Come share in all that’s happened here on June 2-4, where the simplicity for me turns into an exciting reality for you.
