Living in Detroit for the past eight months has been a wonderful experience. I love being in West Village where I can escape into a neighborhood that is quaint and cozy, and still be 10 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. Even though I have called West Village home for quite some time now, I still haven’t explored as much of Detroit as I’d like to.

Recently, I started writing down all the things I still haven’t been able to do while living in the city. My goal is to start checking off the items on my Detroit Bucket List before the Challenge Detroit year is over. So I’ll admit, a little selfishly in fact, that I am using this blog post to publicly hold myself accountable. Here are some cool cultural events and activities I want to do in the city:

  • See an Improv Show at Planet Ant
  • Bowl at Garden Bowl
  • Bike the Dequindre Cut
  • Visit the Belle Isle Conservatory and Aquarium
  • See a movie at Cinema Detroit

I want to explore as much of Detroit as possible while I am living here, and I hope that a few of the activities on the list become new favorites. Right now I love seeing movies at the Redford Theatre, visiting the Detroit Public Library on Woodward to find a new book, seeing the murals at Eastern Market, and walking to Sister Pie in West Village on the weekends. But even the best routine needs a little spontaneity. Here’s to exploring a city that I love a little more!
