River Days is the annual summertime 3-day festival held to showcase the Detroit International Riverfront. This year it was held June 23-25. The festival typically offers a variety of cultural and historical as well as a ton of fun things for the entire family.

For the kids, there are endless carnival rides that will turn their stomachs upside down. And once they get over the queasy stomach pains, food favorites like Coney Dogs, elephant ears, cotton candy, and sno-cones are available to devour. Once they get their fill, they can try their luck and win a prize at the many carnival games.

My personal favorite event that typically happens is the Tuskegee Airmen Airshow. There’s nothing like seeing these old planes pull off acrobatic stunts high above the city and then swoop down close for the spectators to catch a glimpse. If you are a music fan, the musical stages  typically offer a variety of artists from rock, funk, R&B, country, and more! There’s so much going on that it’s worth marking your calendar for next year’s 11th Annual event.
